Conglong appears among the creatures of Mount Fuyu, a place described as rich in copper on its sunny side and iron on its shaded side. The text does not attach a separate omen, adventure, or magical power to the animal, preserving it instead as a concise wonder of the mountain landscape.

Appearance

The Shan Hai Jing describes Conglong only as sheep-like with a red mane. This coloring design interprets that brief image as a tall, horned creature with a cream chest, a flowing scarlet mane, a small beard, and fruit-laden tail ornaments. The golden horns, hoof shape, berries, water, and mountain setting are modern artistic additions rather than fixed details from the source.

Symbolism

Conglong can be read as a figure of vitality and quiet strength: the familiar form of a sheep is transformed by its striking red mane. As a coloring page, its horns, mane, beard, tail, berries, leaves, ripples, bamboo, mountains, and clouds invite brown, cream, scarlet, gold, or an entirely personal palette.
